Responsibilities:

• Assist residents, patients, or clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and oral hygiene
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, reporting changes to supervising nursing staff promptly
• Support safe patient mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment to prevent injury and promote independence
• Provide compassionate care and emotional support to patients and residents, fostering dignity and trust in long-term care, rehab, or home health settings
• Assist with nutritional needs by serving meals, encouraging adequate intake, and documenting food and fluid consumption according to care plans
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable care environment by performing light housekeeping duties and adhering to infection control protocols
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams — including nurses, therapists, and social workers — to support individualized patient care plans
• Observe and report physical, behavioral, or cognitive changes in patients or residents that may indicate a shift in health status requiring clinical attention
• Assist rehabilitation patients with prescribed exercises and therapeutic activities under the direction of licensed nursing or therapy staff
• Document care provided accurately and in a timely manner in accordance with facility policies, state regulations, and healthcare compliance standards

Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in Austin, TX

• Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Texas, in good standing with the Texas Nurse Aide Registry
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Minimum of one (1) year of CNA experience preferred; newly certified CNAs with strong clinical training and references are encouraged to apply
• Demonstrated ability to provide patient-centered care with empathy, professionalism, and respect for cultural diversity
• Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, or willingness to obtain prior to placement
