Responsibilities:
- Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting in LTC, rehab, and home health settings
- Monitor and accurately record vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration, reporting changes to the supervising nurse promptly
- Provide mobility assistance including transfers, repositioning, and ambulation support using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to ensure patient and caregiver safety
- Deliver compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and residents, particularly those in long-term care or receiving home health services in the greater Dallas area
- Assist with feeding, hydration, and meal preparation while observing and documenting nutritional intake and any changes in appetite or swallowing ability
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients by performing light housekeeping tasks, changing bed linens, and ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams — including RNs, physical therapists, and occupational therapists — to support individualized patient care and rehabilitation goals
- Document patient care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charting systems in accordance with facility policies and Texas state regulations
- Respond promptly to patient call lights, requests, and emergencies, demonstrating professionalism, urgency, and empathy in all interactions
- Adhere to all HIPAA privacy guidelines, facility-specific policies, and Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) standards for nurse aide practice
Qualifications & Requirements for Dallas CNA Candidates
- Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification listed in good standing on the Texas Nurse Aide Registry (NAR)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred; completion of a state-approved nurse aide training and competency evaluation program (NATCEP) required
- Minimum of 6 months of hands-on CNA experience in a long-term care, rehabilitation, home health, or similar healthcare setting preferred; new graduates with clinical training considered
- Current CPR/BLS certification from an AHA- or Red Cross-approved provider required or willingness to obtain prior to first placement
- Demonstrated ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients weighing up to 50 lbs or more, with or without reasonable accommodation, using proper techniques
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately and professionally with patients, families, and nursing staff from diverse backgrounds
- Reliable transportation and ability to commute to Dallas-area facilities or patient homes across Dallas, Collin, or Denton counties as required by the specific role
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening in accordance with Texas state law and facility-specific requirements

Requirements
