Responsibilities:
- Assist residents and patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in LTC, rehab, or home health settings
- Monitor and accurately record vital signs — including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration — and promptly report any changes to the supervising nurse
- Provide compassionate mobility assistance, including transfers, repositioning, and ambulation support to prevent pressure injuries and promote rehabilitation goals
- Deliver dignified personal care to patients receiving home health services, adhering to individualized care plans developed by the RN case manager
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding support, and hydration monitoring to ensure proper nutritional intake for residents and home health clients
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment by performing light housekeeping duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed at all times
- Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams — including nurses, therapists, and social workers — to relay patient observations and status updates
- Support rehabilitation patients with prescribed exercise routines and therapeutic activities under the direction of licensed physical or occupational therapists
- Document care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts in compliance with facility, state, and federal regulations
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and residents, fostering a warm, person-centered care environment that respects individual dignity and preferences
Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in Dallas, TX
- Active, unencumbered Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Texas, in good standing with the Texas Nurse Aide Registry
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Previous experience in long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or home health settings preferred but not required for entry-level candidates
- CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) required or willingness to obtain prior to placement
- Strong understanding of infection control standards, HIPAA regulations, and resident rights in accordance with Texas state guidelines
- Demonstrated ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients safely, with a capacity to meet the physical demands of direct patient care
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to patient homes or multiple facility locations within the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area as needed
