Responsibilities:

• Assist residents and patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in LTC, rehab, or home health settings
• Monitor and accurately record patient vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, and oxygen saturation
• Support safe patient transfers and repositioning using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment to prevent injury
• Observe and promptly report changes in patient condition, behavior, or physical status to the supervising licensed nurse
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and residents, fostering dignity and independence
• Assist with meal preparation, feeding support, and hydration monitoring in accordance with individualized care plans
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment including patient rooms, common areas, and equipment
• Participate in care plan meetings and contribute observations about patient progress, preferences, and functional changes
• Follow all infection control protocols, HIPAA regulations, and facility-specific policies to ensure patient and staff safety
• Complete accurate and timely documentation of all care provided in accordance with state, federal, and facility guidelines

Qualifications We're Looking For in Durham CNA Candidates

• Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of North Carolina or eligibility to obtain reciprocity
• Listing in good standing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Minimum of one (1) completed clinical training program or demonstrated hands-on patient care experience preferred but not required for entry-level candidates
• Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and health clearance in compliance with North Carolina healthcare facility requirements
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary nursing team
• Physical ability to perform patient care duties including lifting, transferring, and standing for extended periods throughout a shift
• Current CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross) or willingness to obtain prior to placement
