Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting in LTC, rehab, and home health settings
  • Monitor and accurately record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate, reporting any changes to the supervising nurse promptly
  • Support patient mobility and safe ambulation, including transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent injury
  • Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and their families, fostering a dignified and respectful care environment
  • Assist with meal preparation, feeding support, and nutritional intake monitoring in accordance with each patient's individualized care plan
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment by performing light housekeeping duties and ensuring infection control protocols are followed
  • Document patient care activities and observations accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or written care logs in compliance with facility and state regulations
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams — including nurses, therapists, and social workers — to support rehabilitation goals and continuity of care
  • Respond promptly to patient call lights, requests, and emergencies, ensuring timely and attentive care delivery across all assigned shifts
  • Adhere to North Carolina CNA scope-of-practice guidelines, HIPAA regulations, and all applicable facility policies and procedures

Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in Raleigh, NC

  • Active listing on the North Carolina Nurse Aide I Registry (or Nurse Aide II for advanced roles) in good standing — no pending findings
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required; completion of a state-approved CNA training program preferred
  • Current CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Minimum of 6 months of hands-on CNA experience in a long-term care, rehabilitation, or home health setting preferred; new graduates with clinical hours will be considered
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members in a professional and empathetic manner
  • Physical ability to lift, transfer, and assist patients as required by the role, with or without reasonable accommodation
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to assigned facilities or patient homes within the Raleigh metro area
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening in accordance with North Carolina healthcare employment standards
