Responsibilities:

• Assist residents and patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting in LTC, rehab, or home health settings
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration, reporting changes to the supervising nurse promptly
• Support patient mobility by assisting with transfers, repositioning, ambulation, and the safe use of mobility aids and assistive devices
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and residents, fostering dignity and respect in all interactions
• Assist licensed nursing staff with wound care, catheter care, and other clinical procedures as permitted by Virginia state CNA scope of practice
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment by performing light housekeeping duties and ensuring proper infection control protocols are followed
• Document patient care activities, observations, and changes in condition accurately in electronic or written care records per facility policy
• Assist patients with meal preparation, feeding support, and hydration monitoring, ensuring nutritional needs are met and preferences are respected
• Participate in care plan meetings and collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support individualized patient outcomes
• Respond promptly and calmly to patient call lights, emergencies, and requests, maintaining a high standard of attentive and responsive care

Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in Virginia Beach
