Responsibilities:

• Assist residents and patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene in LTC, rehab, or home health settings
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and temperature, reporting changes to the supervising nurse promptly
• Support safe patient mobility and transfers using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent injury and promote rehabilitation goals
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and residents, fostering dignity and respect in every interaction
• Assist licensed nursing staff with wound care preparation, catheter care, and other clinical procedures as directed and within the CNA scope of practice
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient or resident environment by following infection control protocols and facility cleanliness standards
• Document patient care activities and observations accurately in electronic health records or paper charts in accordance with facility and regulatory requirements
• Support nutritional needs by assisting with meal preparation, feeding assistance, and monitoring intake and output as assigned
• Respond promptly and professionally to patient call lights or home health client requests, prioritizing comfort and safety at all times
• Participate in care plan meetings and communicate relevant observations about patient or resident condition changes to interdisciplinary team members

Qualifications We're Looking For in Our Virginia Beach CNAs

• Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Virginia or eligibility to obtain VA reciprocity
• Current listing in good standing on the Virginia Nurse Aide Registry with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation
• CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (current or willingness to obtain prior to start)
• Prior experience in a long-term care, skilled nursing, rehabilitation, or home health setting is preferred but not required for all positions
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, residents, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare team members
• Physical ability to perform the demands of the role including lifting, transferring, and repositioning patients with proper technique and equipment
• Reliable transportation and ability to report to assigned Virginia Beach area facilities or home health client locations on a consistent schedule
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to HIPAA regulations and all applicable healthcare compliance standards
