Responsibilities:

  • Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in LTC, rehab, or home health settings
  • Monitor and accurately record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, reporting changes to the supervising nurse promptly
  • Provide compassionate mobility assistance including transferring, repositioning, and ambulating patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
  • Support nutritional needs by assisting with meal preparation, feeding, and ensuring adequate hydration for patients and residents in your care
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients by performing light housekeeping tasks and adhering to infection control protocols
  • Observe and report any changes in a patient's physical condition, emotional state, or behavior to the charge nurse or supervising healthcare professional
  • Document patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner within the facility's electronic health record (EHR) or care documentation system
  • Provide emotional support and companionship to patients and residents, promoting dignity, respect, and person-centered care at all times
  • Assist nursing staff with clinical tasks within the CNA scope of practice, including specimen collection, wound care setup, and range-of-motion exercises
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams including nurses, therapists, and social workers to ensure continuity and quality of patient care

Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in Winston-Salem

  • Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of North Carolina, in good standing with the NC Nurse Aide Registry
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum of 6 months of hands-on experience as a CNA in a long-term care, rehabilitation, home health, or acute care setting preferred; new graduates encouraged to apply
  • Current CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (or willingness to obtain prior to placement)
  • Demonstrated ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients safely, with ability to meet the physical demands of direct patient care roles
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to delivering patient-centered, dignified care to diverse populations including elderly and post-acute patients
  • Reliable transportation and flexibility to work a variety of shifts including days, evenings, nights, or weekends depending on facility and patient needs
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check, drug screening, and TB test as required by placement facilities in accordance with North Carolina healthcare regulations
