Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, and mobility support
- Monitor and document vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature under the direction of licensed nursing staff
- Support safe patient transfers and repositioning using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent pressure injuries
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to residents experiencing cognitive or physical decline
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding support, and hydration monitoring in accordance with individualized care plans
- Observe and promptly report any changes in resident condition, behavior, or skin integrity to supervising RN or LPN
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment in alignment with infection control and OSHA standards
- Assist with range-of-motion exercises and ambulation as directed by therapy or nursing care plans
- Accurately document resident care activities and interactions in the facility's electronic health record (EHR) system
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams including RNs, LPNs, CNAs, social workers, and therapy staff
Requirements
- Current, valid Home Health Aide (HHA) certification in the state of Florida or ability to provide equivalent documentation
- Compliance with all Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) requirements for nursing home aides
- Up-to-date CPR/BLS certification from an accredited provider (American Heart Association or Red Cross preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to assist with ADLs, safe patient handling, and personal care in a home care or nursing home setting
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, standard precautions, and long-term care regulatory standards
- Ability to accurately observe, document, and communicate changes in resident condition to licensed clinical staff
- Reliable availability for flexible scheduling including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and rotating shifts
- Physical ability to lift, transfer, and reposition residents in accordance with safe patient handling guidelines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered, empathetic approach to care delivery
- Must pass a Level 2 background screening as required by Florida law for healthcare workers in long-term care facilities
Preferred: Prior experience working in a skilled nursing facility (SNF) or assisted living facility (ALF) in the Windemere or greater Orlando, FL area. Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are strongly encouraged to apply.
