Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough patient assessments upon admission and throughout the continuum of care, documenting findings accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
- Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans in collaboration with physicians, specialists, and interdisciplinary hospital teams
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and prescribed treatments in strict accordance with hospital protocols and Texas Board of Nursing standards
- Monitor and interpret vital signs, laboratory values, and diagnostic results, escalating concerns promptly to the attending physician or charge nurse
- Provide compassionate patient and family education regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, discharge instructions, and community health resources available in the Dallas area
- Maintain a safe patient environment by adhering to infection control procedures, fall prevention protocols, and Joint Commission accreditation standards
- Collaborate effectively with charge nurses, hospitalists, case managers, and ancillary staff to facilitate smooth care transitions and timely discharges
- Accurately document all nursing interventions, patient responses, and care coordination activities in compliance with hospital and CMS documentation requirements
- Participate in unit-based quality improvement initiatives, staff huddles, and continuing education programs to advance nursing excellence
- Respond calmly and decisively in emergency situations, including rapid response team activations and code events, applying current BLS and ACLS protocols
What We're Looking For in Our Dallas RN Candidates
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the Texas Board of Nursing, or a valid Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) license with Texas privileges
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred and encouraged by many Dallas hospital partners
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association required prior to start date
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required or must be obtained within 90 days of hire for applicable units
- Demonstrated ability to utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Meditech in a clinical hospital setting
- Strong clinical critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize patient needs and manage multiple assignments simultaneously in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to culturally competent, patient-centered care reflective of Dallas's diverse patient population
- Willingness to work flexible shifts including days, nights, and weekends in alignment with hospital staffing needs
