Responsibilities:

• Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility support
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, reporting changes to supervising nursing staff
• Provide compassionate personal care and emotional support to patients in long-term care, rehabilitation, and home health settings
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and repositioning using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to ensure patient and caregiver safety
• Observe and promptly report any changes in patient condition, behavior, or skin integrity to the charge nurse or supervising clinician
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients, including routine room upkeep and infection control practices
• Support patients with nutritional needs including meal setup, feeding assistance, and fluid intake monitoring and documentation
• Communicate respectfully and effectively with patients, family members, and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of quality care
• Document care activities accurately and in a timely manner using facility or agency electronic health record systems
• Adhere to all facility, agency, and state of Virginia healthcare regulations, policies, and patient rights standards at all times

Qualifications We Look for in Chesapeake CNA Candidates

• Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification listed on the Virginia Board of Nursing Nurse Aide Registry
• Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent
• Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved provider such as the American Heart Association
• Prior experience in a long-term care, rehabilitation, home health, or acute care setting preferred but not required for entry-level candidates
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work compassionately with elderly, post-acute, and medically complex patients
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role including prolonged standing, lifting, and assisting with patient transfers
• Reliable transportation and the ability to report consistently to assigned facilities or home health territories in the Chesapeake, VA area
• Willingness to work flexible shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends depending on placement and facility need
