Responsibilities:
- Assist residents and patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in LTC, rehab, and home health settings
- Monitor and accurately record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, reporting changes to the supervising nurse promptly
- Support patient mobility by assisting with transfers, repositioning, ambulation, and the safe use of mobility aids such as walkers and wheelchairs
- Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and residents, promoting dignity and respect in every interaction
- Assist with meal preparation, feeding support, and ensuring adequate nutrition and hydration for patients under your care
- Observe and report changes in patient condition, behavior, or skin integrity to the charge nurse or supervising RN in a timely manner
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized care environment by performing light housekeeping duties and adhering to infection control protocols
- Document patient care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts in accordance with facility and state guidelines
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams including nurses, therapists, and social workers to support individualized patient care plans
- Follow all HIPAA regulations, facility policies, and Virginia Department of Health standards to ensure patient safety and regulatory compliance
Qualifications We Look For in Our Richmond CNA Candidates
- Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing with the Virginia Board of Nursing or ability to reciprocate from another state
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Completion of a state-approved CNA training program with documented clinical hours
- Current CPR and First Aid certification (BLS preferred)
- Minimum of 6 months of hands-on experience as a CNA preferred; new graduates from accredited programs are encouraged to apply
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening in accordance with Virginia state requirements and facility standards
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work compassionately with elderly, post-acute, or homebound patient populations
- Reliable transportation and flexibility to work full-time hours across day, evening, or overnight shifts as needed
