Responsibilities:

• Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support
• Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, reporting any changes to the supervising nurse promptly
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients in long-term care, rehabilitation, or home health settings
• Assist with transfers and repositioning of patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent falls and pressure injuries
• Support nursing staff with wound care, catheter care, and other delegated clinical tasks in accordance with New Jersey state regulations
• Accurately document patient observations, care activities, and changes in condition in electronic health records (EHR) or paper-based charts
• Assist patients during meals, ensuring proper nutrition and hydration, and reporting any swallowing difficulties or appetite changes
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients and residents, following infection control and OSHA safety protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams — including nurses, therapists, and social workers — to support individualized care plans
• In home health settings, assist clients with light housekeeping, medication reminders, and transportation coordination as directed by the care plan

Qualifications We Look For in Newark CNA Candidates

• Active and unrestricted New Jersey Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing with the NJ Nurse Aide Registry
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• CPR/BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred) required or willingness to obtain prior to placement
