Flexible Temporary CNA Opportunities in Long-Term Care & Rehabilitation Settings Across New York City
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents and patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in accordance with individualized care plans
- Monitor and accurately document vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate, reporting abnormal findings promptly to supervising licensed nursing staff
- Provide mobility assistance including repositioning bedridden residents, supporting ambulation, and safely transferring patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Deliver compassionate emotional support and meaningful social interaction to long-term care residents, promoting dignity, respect, and overall psychological well-being
- Assist rehabilitation patients with prescribed therapeutic exercises and mobility routines as directed by physical and occupational therapy teams
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment by adhering to infection control protocols and facility sanitation standards consistent with New York State Department of Health regulations
- Accurately observe and report changes in patient condition, behavior, skin integrity, or functional status to the charge nurse in a timely manner
- Support proper nutrition and hydration by assisting residents with meals, documenting intake and output, and encouraging adequate fluid consumption throughout each shift
- Respond promptly and courteously to call lights, patient requests, and emergency situations while maintaining composure and professionalism in a fast-paced nursing environment
- Collaborate effectively as part of an interdisciplinary care team, attending shift handoffs and contributing to a culture of safety and continuous quality improvement
Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in New York
- Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing on the New York State Nurse Aide Registry
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required; completion of a state-approved CNA training program required
- Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- Ability to meet the physical demands of long-term care and rehabilitation environments, including lifting, transferring, and standing for extended periods
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to work compassionately with elderly, post-acute, and cognitively impaired patient populations
- Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and documentation practices preferred, though training may be provided based on facility systems
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and health clearance requirements consistent with New York State healthcare staffing regulations
