Flexible Temporary CNA Opportunities in Long-Term Care & Rehabilitation Across Chicagoland

Responsibilities:

  • Assist residents and patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and ambulation within LTC and rehabilitation facility settings
  • Monitor and accurately record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration rate, and temperature, reporting any abnormalities to the supervising licensed nurse promptly
  • Support rehabilitation patients with prescribed range-of-motion exercises and mobility assistance under the direction of licensed nursing and therapy staff
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all residents, including routine room upkeep, linen changes, and infection control practices in accordance with Illinois IDPH standards
  • Provide compassionate emotional support and social engagement to long-term care residents, fostering dignity, respect, and person-centered care at all times
  • Assist with meal preparation, tray delivery, and feeding support for residents who require assistance, monitoring for signs of dysphagia or nutritional concerns
  • Document all patient care activities accurately and in a timely manner within facility electronic health record (EHR) systems, maintaining compliance with facility and regulatory requirements
  • Respond promptly and professionally to call lights and patient requests, prioritizing safety and resident satisfaction across all shifts
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams — including nurses, therapists, and social workers — to relay changes in patient condition and support holistic care planning
  • Adhere strictly to all facility infection prevention protocols, including proper PPE usage, hand hygiene, and isolation procedures relevant to LTC and rehab environments

Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in Chicago

  • Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification listed in good standing on the Illinois Health Care Worker Registry
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent required
  • Minimum of one completed clinical rotation or hands-on patient care experience in a long-term care, skilled nursing, or rehabilitation setting preferred, though all experience levels are welcome
  • Current CPR/BLS certification from an approved provider (American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred)
  • Demonstrated ability to lift and assist patients safely, with the physical stamina to perform direct patient care duties throughout an entire shift
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a patient-centered approach and sensitivity to the needs of elderly and post-acute rehabilitation populations
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and health clearance (including up-to-date immunizations) as required by Illinois state regulations and facility policies
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts — days, evenings, nights, and weekends — to meet the scheduling needs of Chicago-area long-term care and rehabilitation facilities
