Responsibilities:

• Provide direct personal care to patients and residents including bathing, grooming, dressing, and oral hygiene across LTC, rehab, home health, and clinic settings
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rates, reporting any abnormalities to supervising nursing staff
• Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive equipment such as gait belts and Hoyer lifts
• Support nutritional needs by assisting patients with meal preparation, feeding, and fluid intake monitoring, and documenting intake and output as directed
• Maintain a safe, clean, and comfortable environment for patients by changing linens, sanitizing patient areas, and following facility infection control protocols
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and residents, particularly those in long-term or home health care settings
• Assist clinical staff with specimen collection, wound care preparation, and other delegated tasks within the CNA scope of practice under Maryland state guidelines
• Accurately document all care activities in patient records in accordance with facility policies, HIPAA regulations, and state reporting requirements
• Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams including registered nurses, physical therapists, and case managers to ensure continuity of patient care
• Respond promptly to patient call lights, emergencies, and requests for assistance, maintaining a calm and professional demeanor in high-pressure situations

Qualifications We Look for in Laurel-Area CNA Candidates

• Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of Maryland, in good standing with the Maryland Board of Nursing
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; completion of a state-approved CNA training program is mandatory
• Current CPR and First Aid certification from an AHA or Red Cross accredited provider
• Experience in one or more care settings — long-term care, home health, rehabilitation, or outpatient clinic — is preferred but entry-level candidates are encouraged to apply
• Demonstrated ability to assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) with empathy, patience, and respect for individual dignity
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary nursing and healthcare team
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the role including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and safely transferring patients
• Reliable transportation and the ability to accommodate day, evening, night, weekend, rotating, or flexible shift assignments based on facility needs
