Responsibilities:

• Assist patients and residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, dressing, and oral hygiene across LTC, home health, rehab, and clinic settings
• Monitor and accurately record vital signs such as temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiratory rate, reporting any changes or abnormalities to the supervising nurse
• Support patient mobility by safely assisting with transfers, repositioning, ambulation, and the proper use of assistive devices to prevent falls and promote rehabilitation
• Provide compassionate personal care and emotional support to patients and their families, fostering dignity, respect, and trust in every interaction
• Assist nursing staff with wound care, catheter care, and other clinical procedures under the direct supervision of a licensed nurse in accordance with Virginia state regulations
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment, including changing bed linens, sanitizing equipment, and adhering to infection control protocols
• Document patient care activities, observations, and any changes in condition accurately and in a timely manner within electronic health record (EHR) systems
• Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams — including nurses, therapists, social workers, and physicians — to support individualized patient care plans
• Deliver attentive care to home health patients in residential settings throughout the Reston community, respecting their autonomy and promoting independence wherever possible
• Adhere to all facility policies, HIPAA regulations, and Virginia Department of Health standards to ensure patient safety, confidentiality, and quality of care

Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in Reston, VA

• Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia or eligibility for reciprocity transfer from another state
• Current listing in good standing on the Virginia Board of Nursing Nurse Aide Registry with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation
• Valid CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (must be current at time of placement)
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required; completion of an accredited CNA training program is mandatory
• Experience in one or more care settings — long-term care, home health, inpatient rehabilitation, or outpatient clinic — is welcomed at all levels, including new graduates
• Demonstrated ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients safely, with the physical stamina to perform duties across full 8- or 12-hour shifts
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to work collaboratively within diverse, fast-paced healthcare teams
• Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to facilities and patient homes throughout Reston, Herndon, and the broader Fairfax County region
