Flexible Temporary CNA Opportunities in Long-Term Care & Rehab Facilities Across San Diego
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, hands-on personal care to residents and patients including bathing, grooming, dressing, and oral hygiene in accordance with California CDPH standards
- Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and facility-approved assistive devices
- Monitor and accurately document vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, reporting changes in patient condition promptly to the charge nurse
- Support residents during meals, assist with feeding as needed, and document nutritional intake in accordance with individualized care plans
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all residents by performing routine room upkeep and adhering to infection control protocols
- Assist rehabilitation therapy teams in supporting patients recovering from surgery, stroke, or injury by reinforcing exercise plans and encouraging patient participation
- Respond promptly and compassionately to call lights and resident requests, ensuring dignity and respect are maintained at all times
- Participate in interdisciplinary care team meetings and contribute observations about resident progress, behaviors, or concerns
- Document all care activities accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or paper-based systems per facility policy and California state requirements
- Adhere to all HIPAA regulations, facility safety protocols, and mandatory reporting obligations applicable to long-term care and rehab settings in California
Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in San Diego
- Current, active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in the state of California, in good standing with the California Aide and Technician Certification Section (ATCS)
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Minimum of one completed clinical rotation or any verifiable hands-on caregiving experience; new graduates with California CNA certification are encouraged to apply
- Current CPR/BLS certification from an AHA- or Red Cross-accredited program
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and drug screening in compliance with California healthcare employment regulations
- Demonstrated ability to lift, transfer, and reposition patients safely; must meet the physical demands of an active long-term care or rehabilitation environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact respectfully with residents, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
- Flexibility to work various shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends as required by temporary assignment schedules
