Full-Time GNA Opportunities in Long-Term Care & Home Health Across Fairfax, Virginia

Responsibilities:

• Assist residents and home health patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting in accordance with individualized care plans
• Monitor and accurately document vital signs, intake and output, and changes in patient condition, reporting concerns promptly to the supervising nurse
• Provide mobility assistance, including transferring patients using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to ensure safety for both the patient and caregiver
• Deliver compassionate companionship and emotional support to elderly patients and residents, fostering dignity, respect, and a sense of independence
• Assist with feeding and nutrition support during meal times, including preparation of food trays and monitoring for swallowing difficulties or dietary restrictions
• Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients in long-term care settings, including routine room sanitation and linen changes
• Follow all infection control protocols and HIPAA compliance guidelines to protect patient health and privacy across LTC and home health settings
• Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, therapists, and care coordinators to support comprehensive, team-based care delivery
• Adhere to Virginia Board of Nursing GNA scope of practice standards and facility-specific policies and procedures at all times
• Participate in care conferences, shift handoffs, and ongoing training as required by the healthcare facility or home health agency

Qualifications & Requirements for GNA Candidates in Fairfax, VA

• Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in good standing with the Virginia Board of Nursing or reciprocal state registry
• Current listing on the Virginia Nurse Aide Registry with no substantiated findings of abuse, neglect, or misappropriation
• Current CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• High school diploma or GED equivalent required
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check, drug screening, and tuberculosis (TB) test as required by Virginia state regulations and facility standards
• Strong understanding of geriatric patient care principles including dementia care, fall prevention, and skin integrity management
• Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to assigned LTC facilities or patient homes within the Fairfax County service area
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary nursing and healthcare team
