Join a Trusted Healthcare Staffing Team Serving Long-Term Care & Home Health Clients Across Silver Spring, MD
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct personal care and activities of daily living (ADL) support to elderly residents and home health clients, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and mobility assistance
- Monitor and accurately document vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, respiration, temperature, and weight, reporting any changes to the supervising nurse promptly
- Assist residents and home health clients with ambulation, transfers, and positioning using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to prevent injury
- Support nutritional needs by assisting clients with meals, monitoring food and fluid intake, and reporting concerns about appetite or hydration to nursing staff
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for each client or resident, adhering to infection control protocols and facility or agency standards
- Observe and report changes in client physical or cognitive condition, behavioral patterns, or emotional well-being to the supervising registered nurse or care team
- Engage residents and home health clients in meaningful social interaction and recreational activities to promote mental and emotional well-being
- Assist with restorative nursing programs and range-of-motion exercises as directed by the licensed nursing or therapy team
- Accurately complete required documentation including care logs, ADL flow sheets, and incident reports in compliance with Maryland state regulations and facility policies
- Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams including nurses, social workers, therapists, and family members to ensure person-centered, holistic care delivery
Qualifications & Requirements for GNA Candidates in Silver Spring
- Current, active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification registered with the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) in good standing
- Valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential as a prerequisite component of Maryland GNA licensure
- Minimum completion of Maryland-approved GNA training program with documented competency evaluations
- Prior experience in a long-term care, skilled nursing facility, or home health setting preferred but not required — entry-level candidates with strong foundational training are welcome
- Working knowledge of infection control practices, standard precautions, and HIPAA privacy regulations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact compassionately with elderly clients, family members, and multidisciplinary care team members
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role including prolonged standing, bending, lifting, and assisting with client transfers safely
- Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to assigned facilities or home health client locations throughout Silver Spring and Montgomery County, MD
