Rewarding GNA Opportunities in Long-Term Care & Home Health Across Charles County
Responsibilities:
- Assist residents or home health clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and oral hygiene
- Monitor and document vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration, reporting changes to the supervising nurse promptly
- Provide mobility assistance including transfers, repositioning, and ambulation support using proper body mechanics and assistive devices
- Deliver compassionate companionship and emotional support to geriatric patients in long-term care and home health environments
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding support, ensuring dietary restrictions and preferences are followed according to the care plan
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for residents and home health clients, adhering to infection control protocols
- Accurately document care provided in electronic health records (EHR) or paper charts in compliance with Maryland state regulations
- Communicate effectively with residents, family members, and interdisciplinary care team members to ensure continuity of person-centered care
- Observe and report behavioral, physical, or emotional changes in clients to the nursing supervisor or home health coordinator
- Participate in care planning meetings and staff huddles to stay current on individualized resident or client care goals
Qualifications We're Looking For in Waldorf GNA Candidates
- Active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in good standing with the Maryland Board of Nursing
- Current listing on the Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Registry with no substantiated findings
- Valid CPR/BLS certification from an accredited provider (American Heart Association or Red Cross preferred)
- Prior experience in a long-term care, skilled nursing, or home health setting preferred but not required for entry-level candidates
- Strong understanding of infection control practices, HIPAA compliance, and resident rights within healthcare settings
- Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screening in accordance with Maryland healthcare staffing regulations
- Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to facilities or client homes within the Waldorf, MD and greater Charles County area
- Excellent communication skills, empathy, and a genuine commitment to providing high-quality geriatric care
