Part-Time LPN/LVN Opportunities Across Long-Term Care, Home Health & Rehab Settings in the Bay Area

Responsibilities:

  • Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) standards and facility protocols
  • Monitor and document patient vital signs, health status changes, and responses to care interventions in long-term care, home health, or rehabilitation settings
  • Assist residents and patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support as needed
  • Collaborate with registered nurses, physical therapists, and interdisciplinary care teams to implement individualized patient care plans
  • Perform wound assessments and dressing changes under the supervision of an RN or licensed healthcare provider per facility guidelines
  • Educate patients and family members on medication management, disease processes, and post-treatment care instructions relevant to their specific diagnoses
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records (EHR) systems in compliance with HIPAA regulations and California state law
  • Conduct initial and ongoing patient assessments and report significant clinical changes to the supervising RN or attending physician promptly
  • Support rehabilitation patients through therapeutic exercises, ambulation assistance, and encouragement during recovery milestones
  • Adhere to infection control protocols, safe patient handling standards, and all applicable California Department of Public Health regulatory requirements

Qualifications & Licensure Requirements for LPN/LVN Candidates in California

  • Active and unrestricted LVN license issued by the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians (BVNPT) — required
  • Completion of a state-approved practical or vocational nursing program from an accredited institution
  • Current BLS/CPR certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Experience in long-term care, home health, or rehabilitation settings is preferred but not required — all experience levels are encouraged to apply
  • Demonstrated ability to administer medications, perform venipuncture (if certified), and deliver wound care under RN or physician supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively engage patients, families, and multidisciplinary team members
  • Proficiency with or ability to quickly learn electronic health record (EHR) platforms commonly used in Bay Area healthcare settings
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check, TB screening, and drug screen in accordance with California state requirements and facility policies
