Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility across LTC, home health, rehab, and clinic settings
• Monitor and accurately record patient vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiratory rate, reporting changes promptly to supervising nursing staff
• Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and residents, particularly those in long-term care or receiving home health services
• Assist with patient transfers, repositioning, and ambulation using proper body mechanics and assistive devices to ensure safety and prevent injury
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient care environment in compliance with Maryland state regulations and facility infection control protocols
• Support rehabilitation patients with exercise programs and mobility activities as directed by physical and occupational therapists
• Document patient care activities, observations, and changes in condition accurately in electronic health records (EHR) or facility-specific charting systems
• Respond to patient and resident call lights promptly and with professionalism, addressing needs or escalating to licensed nursing staff as appropriate
• Assist clinical and nursing staff with specimen collection, catheter care, wound dressing support, and other delegated clinical tasks within CNA scope of practice
• Participate in interdisciplinary care team communications, shift handoffs, and care plan meetings to support continuity of high-quality patient care

Qualifications & Requirements for CNA Candidates in Annapolis, MD

• Active and unrestricted Maryland Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in good standing with the Maryland Board of Nursing
• Successful completion of a state-approved CNA training program with demonstrated clinical competency
• CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross (current and valid)
• Ability to pass a federal and state background check in accordance with Maryland healthcare employment requirements
• Satisfactory TB screening and compliance with facility-specific immunization requirements including flu and COVID-19 protocols
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with patients, families, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods, lift and transfer patients, and perform the physical demands of direct patient care
• Prior experience in LTC, home health, rehab, or clinic settings is welcomed but not required — new graduates and experienced CNAs are encouraged to apply
