Full-Time GNA Opportunities in Long-Term Care & Home Health Across Annapolis and Anne Arundel County

Responsibilities:

  • Assist elderly and medically complex residents or clients with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting in LTC and home health settings
  • Monitor and accurately document vital signs including blood pressure, pulse, respiration, and temperature, reporting changes in patient condition promptly to supervising nursing staff
  • Support safe patient mobility through repositioning, transfers using proper body mechanics and lift equipment, and ambulation assistance to prevent falls and pressure injuries
  • Provide compassionate companionship and emotional support to patients and residents, fostering dignity, respect, and a sense of well-being in every interaction
  • Assist with feeding and nutritional support, documenting intake and output as directed by the care plan and communicating concerns about appetite or swallowing difficulties
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient or resident environment in compliance with infection control standards and facility or agency protocols
  • Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary care teams including registered nurses, therapists, and social workers to ensure continuity and quality of patient care
  • Follow individualized care plans precisely, implementing updates as directed by supervising RNs or licensed nursing staff and flagging discrepancies or care plan concerns
  • In home health settings, assist clients with light housekeeping, medication reminders, and errands as outlined in the authorized scope of care plan services
  • Adhere to all Maryland Board of Nursing GNA scope of practice regulations, HIPAA privacy requirements, and facility or agency compliance standards at all times

Qualifications & Requirements for GNA Candidates in Maryland

  • Current, active Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) certification in good standing with the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) — Maryland GNA certification is required, not just CNA
  • Successful completion of a Maryland-approved GNA training program with documented competency evaluation on file
  • Valid CPR/BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, current and unexpired
  • Demonstrated ability to work compassionately and effectively with geriatric populations, individuals with dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or complex chronic conditions
  • Experience or willingness to work in long-term care (LTC) skilled nursing facilities and/or home health environments across the Annapolis and Anne Arundel County area
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to assigned facilities or client homes throughout the Annapolis, MD region as required by the position
  • Ability to pass a comprehensive criminal background check, drug screening, and OIG exclusion check in compliance with Maryland healthcare staffing requirements
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with a collaborative, patient-first attitude suited to nursing team environments and direct patient care responsibilities
